When it comes to capturing our travel memories, having the right gear makes all the difference. Whether we’re hiking through national parks, exploring cities, or filming early morning race days, this setup helps us stay lightweight, organized, and ready to shoot on the go. Below is a complete breakdown of the camera gear, accessories, storage tools, and software we rely on to create content—from Instagram photos to YouTube videos.

Camera Body

Sony A6700
This mirrorless camera is the heart of our setup. It’s compact, lightweight, and packed with features like 4K video, advanced autofocus, and in-body stabilization. Perfect for both photo and video, it performs beautifully in different lighting conditions, which makes it ideal for travel content.

Lenses

Sigma 10-18mm F2.8
This ultra-wide lens is perfect for capturing tight spaces, epic landscape and architecture. We like using it for selfie-style vlogs because it captures more of the surrounding scenery and gives the impression that we’re farther from the camera.

Sony 18-50mm F2.8
A great all-around lens for everyday shooting. It’s sharp, fast, and versatile. This lens is ideal for portraits, B-roll, and moments when we need a natural perspective.

Camera Accessories

ND Filters
ND filters help us shoot in bright conditions, I like to think of them like sunglasses for your camera. It’s incredibly useful for both, video and photography, especially since we live in Florida and like traveling to sunny places around the world.

Tripod
A must-have for shooting stable video, timelapses, or self-portraits when we’re both in front of the camera. Ours is lightweight and compact enough to travel with.

Sony Mini Tripod
This mini tripod is perfect for handheld vlogging, quick setups, or tabletop shooting. It’s super portable and fits easily in a daypacks.

Camera Bag
While most people go for a dedicated camera backpack, we prefer using a bag that keeps all our gear safe and organized and still leaves room for daily essentials. This one fits perfectly inside both our everyday backpack and our REI hiking pack, so we know our gear is protected while still having space for snacks, water, hiking poles, and other on-the-go necessities.

Peak Design Capture Clip
This clip attaches to our backpack strap and lets us access our camera quickly while hiking or walking through the city. It’s one of our favorite tools for keeping our hands free without missing a shot.

Wireless Bluetooth Remote
Ideal for solo or couple shots, especially when we don’t want to run back and forth to set a timer.

Sony Microphone
Audio quality can make a big impact on your videos. This on-camera shotgun mic captures crisp, clear sound—even in noisy environments. We tried using a wireless mic, but constantly having to take it out, clip it on, and power it up felt inconvenient. With this shotgun mic, it stays attached to the camera and is ready to record as soon as the camera is on.

Camera Cleaning Kit
We always travel with a blower, lens wipes, and cleaning spray. Keeping our gear clean is essential for sharp shots and long-term durability, especially in dusty or humid locations.

Extra Batteries & Case
Running out of battery during a shoot is the worst, so we always pack extras to get through a full day of filming. We chose to invest in additional Sony batteries and paired them with a third-party charger that makes charging and holding multiple batteries convenient.

File Storage

SanDisk SSD
Fast, reliable, and compact, this SSD is where we back up all our photos and footage while traveling. It’s a lifesaver for staying organized on the road.

Sony Tough SD Cards (256GB, 128GB, 128GB mini)
Having multiple high-speed SD cards ensures we never run out of space or lose data. The 128 MicroSD is mainly used for our DJI Osmo Camera, DJI Drone, and GoPro. While the 256 and 128 SD cards are used for our main sony camera.

MicroSD to SD Adapter
We use this adapter in order to back our the MicroSD card to our laptop. It’s good for flexibility and backup options.

Other Cameras

GoPro
Our GoPro is perfect for action shots, underwater footage, and anything that might be a little too risky for any of our cameras.

DJI Osmo Pocket
We love this for smooth, stabilized video on the fly. It’s pocket-sized and great for casual walk-and-talk vlog clips or when we want to film discreetly. Our phone kept running out of storage so we switched to this for more flexibility.

DJI Drone
For those sweeping aerial views that give our videos a cinematic edge. It opens up a whole new perspective on the places we visit.

Editing & Design Software

Adobe Creative Cloud
We use Adobe Premiere Pro for video editing, Lightroom for photo editing, and Bridge to manage our media. This suite gives us total creative control over our content.

Canva
For designing YouTube thumbnails, Instagram Highlights, and blog graphics—Canva is an easy and powerful tool we use constantly for visuals and branding.
